Project Brief
The quest to rapidly create more jobs for the ever-increasing youth population led to the transformation of the Agric-YES to the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (LAP) in the year 2019. The LAP aims to train 15,000 women and youth in agricultural value chains, using the Ministry’s training facilities across the State. The LAP was flagged-off in February 2020 with the training of 200 women and youth for a period of one month.
Project Objectives
* To efficiently reduce unemployment, create jobs and alleviate poverty in the State
* To increase food production and contribute substantially to local food demand within the State.
* To facilitate the attainment of food security in Lagos State.
* To improve the well-being of citizens of Lagos State
EXPECTED IMPACT
*Creation of 2000 Agripreneurs ( Job creators)/annum
* Increased productivity
*Promotion of food security, Improved Nutrition, and general well-being of Lagosians
*Creation of at least 1,200 indirect jobs through the engagement of support staff such as Attendants, Artisans among others annually
* Enhancement of the economic activities of the surrounding communities and increased GDP and IGR for the State.
