Urban Farming: Feeding the Cities, Knowledge sharing and Networking event.

Agriculture is a significant contributor to GDP and employs about 70% of Nigeria’s population with over 200million inhabitants. Lagos been the commercial heart of the country, economic hub of West Africa as well as the leading tech hub in Africa produces just 20-24% of the food it consumes. Lagos State Government has therefore set itself the target to increase this to 40-50% by the year 2025.
However considering population growth of Lagos State from 22million to 30million by the year 2030, there is need to increase urban farming.

Dutch companies known for providing quality goods and services therefore decided to partner with Lagos because of her continuous demand for new technologies in crop cultivation and the fact that Lagos State welcomes best possible partners as regards issues relating to agriculture.
This partnership can be linked to the fact that The Netherlands is Nigeria’s 4th largest importing partner, 3rd largest exporting partner and 2nd largest exporter of agriculture in the world.
