To provide Excellent Animal Health Services in Veterinary Public health in tandem with One Health Global approach and food safety.

Mission Statement

To promote best animal welfare through a science-based approach at per with international best practices and provide a better guaranteed food of animal origin, through improving necessary infrastructure, resources, capacities, and continuous education.

Operational Units of the department

To deliver our core mandate in providing quality animal health care services and prevent zoonotic diseases from spreading in accordance with international best practices. The department is divided into 6 core Units and subunits.
There are 6 Public Veterinary Clinics across the state and One referral Animal Hospital located at Johnson Agiri Complex Agege.
Currently the department inspects Meat at 18 Public abattoirs/slaughterhouses and 8 Private Abattoirs /slaughterhouse.

Our Staff Strength

Currently, the department has 50 staffs which is made up of 38 Veterinary Doctors and 12 Animal Health Technologist
